About Us

Heroes at Home, founded by The Flagship Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia in 2005, is a highly regarded, regional recognition program that honors military spouses from all ranks and branches for their strength, sacrifices, volunteerism and support for the military community.  For more than 15 years, Heroes at Home has recognized our military spouses for their important contributions to our local communities and has empowered military spouses to further their mission in support of the military community and our country. 

The program started in Hampton Roads, Virginia and has expanded over the years to Northern Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. Over 3000 unsung heroes have been nominated for this honor over the years.  This program has even captured the attention of the White House.  Past finalists have been invited to the White House and our 2007 Spouse of the Year, Linda Port, went on to receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award, presented by President George W. Bush.  Past Heroes at Home Military Spouse of the Year recipients have served as speakers at area events and have also been recognized for this award by numerous organizations in their respective regions.

The Hampton Roads, Northern VA and Jacksonville, FL military and civilian communities will come together to honor and recognize military spouses in their regions for their unending strength, their extraordinary personal sacrifices and their selfless commitment.  

Understanding that military service is a family affair, we have expanded the program to include our Little Heroes at Home!  They, too, share their fortitude and pledge support to our communities. To our Little Heroes – we are excited to celebrate YOU!  

This year, given the ongoing pandemic, we will be virtually recognizing these deserving spouses and Little Heroes through a specially created Facebook event page on the Heroes at Home Facebook page.  ALL are invited to join us for the Heroes at Home virtual events where we will announce the finalists and name the Heroes at Home Military Spouse of the Year and our Little Hero at Home for all three regions.
